Tips and Tricks for Keeping Your Car Fresh and Clean this Spring!

As spring approaches, it's time to bid farewell to the remnants of winter clinging to your car. Spring cleaning isn't confined to the home; it's equally crucial for your vehicle's well-being.

In the Midwest, winters bring a barrage of snow, salt, sludge, and sleet. Left unattended, these elements can inflict considerable damage on your vehicle in the long run by, corroding its paint, eroding wheels, and infiltrating the interior. This guide aims to highlight essential practices for maintaining your vehicle's peak condition, ensuring it's ready to withstand the challenges of another winter ahead.

Wipe Down the Dashboard and Door Panels

  • Starting your spring cleaning by wiping down the dashboard, instrument panel, center console, and door panels with a car safe all-purpose cleaner and a microfiber cloth. These cloths will collect almost all the dust, therefore it’s best to wipe these surfaces down prior to vacuuming.

Vacuum Away ALL Dirt

  • With all the sand and salt stuck to the bottom of your winter boots, now it is littering the floor of the car. Moving the seats both all the way forward and all the way back for easy access. Simply start by removing the floor mats and vacuuming the carpet underneath them, then start the deep clean with some carpet cleaner and water. Making sure not to oversaturate the carpet, which can cause mold.

Use Glass Cleaner Inside Your Vehicle

  • Before you start to apply cleaner, make sure to wipe down the interior windows with a microfiber cloth, starting top to bottom. Spray a few squirts of glass cleaner onto the cloth and wipe the windows down this way, as well as working from top to bottom in small, circular motions.

Now Wash the Exterior

  • With salt and winter road grime, this can dull your car’s finish and cause permanent damage. First hose off any loose dirt and salt to avoid scratching the metal surface. From there you can use a large, soft sponge with soap to wash the whole car top to bottom, including your wheels. With tires taking the brunt of our Midwest weather, they may need a little tire wax and shine.

In wrapping up, let's gear up for a springtime adventure with a sparkling clean ride! These tips aren't just about looks—they're your vehicle's ticket to staying fresh and functional amidst the Midwest's wild weather swings. So, roll up those sleeves, grab your favorite cleaning supplies, and let's give our cars the TLC they deserve. With a little effort now, we'll be cruising into spring with style and confidence! 🌷
